About the creator
Hi, I’m Brittany.
A mom of four, a Texas resident, and the person who built the app she spent years wishing existed.
Thank you for visiting. I am incredibly proud to share My People with you, because it is an app that grew out of a very personal challenge.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve navigated life with social anxiety and OCD. Social situations left me exhausted. Before a gathering, I would worry about what I might forget. During conversations, I would wonder whether I was asking the right questions. Afterward, I would replay everything in my head, convinced I had made a mistake.
Eventually, I was diagnosed with autism. The diagnosis helped me understand why my brain works the way it does—but it did not magically make relationships easier.
Various providers suggested keeping notes about the people in my life so I could prepare a few meaningful conversation starters beforehand. I tried. But no app could seamlessly organize, connect, and recall those details when I needed them most.
That was when I realized I did not just need a better note-taking app. I needed a different kind of relationship tool.
I wanted to review the parents in my children’s class before a school event. Remember a friend’s pets before a phone call. Recall someone’s recent surgery before asking how they were doing.
When AI became capable of helping organize information without taking away my control, I decided to build the app myself.
Along the way, I developed a firm philosophy:
App accessibility is not just about helping people use software. It is about helping people participate more fully in the parts of life that matter most.
My People was designed around neurodivergent experiences—including autism, ADHD, OCD, and social anxiety—but I never wanted it to stop there. The same features that help me feel prepared before a conversation can also help students, caregivers, professionals, grandparents, and anyone who wants to be more intentional about their relationships.
Good accessibility often benefits everyone. My hope is that My People does too.
Keeping My People free
Relationships matter too much to put behind a paywall.
One of the earliest decisions I made was that My People would not require a subscription to use.
Building My People has been a much larger project than I ever imagined. If it has helped you show up for the people you care about and you’d like to support the work that went into creating it, you’re welcome to leave a tip. It helps offset the time and costs of building the app, but it’s never expected.
Want to support My People?
If you’d like to help make it easier for me to continue offering My People without ads or subscriptions, I’d be incredibly grateful.
Venmo: @KELCenterprisesMy goal has always been to make My People as accessible as possible, and keeping it free is an important part of that vision.
